Torello is located in Torre di Ruggiero territory, an agricultural village
with beautiful old houses and roads made of typical old granite stones,
which extends along the middle Ancinale river valley. It lies on the
ancient road going from the Gulf of Squillace to the Serra mountains.
Another of the many advantages is that from Torello it is easy to visit
many nearby tourist resorts. Under Ruggiero Ist (brother of Roberto il
“Guiscardo”) appointed Great Count of Calabria and called “Bosso” for
his beautiful face and body, Casale di Torre delle Spadole was built, the
present Torre di Ruggiero. Nowadays, Torre di Ruggiero is well known
as a religious resort due to the presence of the “Santuario della
Madonna delle Grazie”, where thousands of pilgrims come from many
parts of the world every year. Only a few kilometres away, you will find
Cardinale, an ancient village on the Ancinale river banks. Not far away,
at Chiaravalle Centrale there is an interesting Convento dei Cappuccini.
